01: HOW ALL STARTED?

           

First of all, here I leave a brief biography to begin;

In the cold winter of anno satana 1996 under the frozen cloak of Pyrenees SPELLCRAFT was born. After a year of tests they recorded their first demo: ” Funeral in the Night”, harvesting good reviews at local level and giving several concerts in its closest surroundings. In 2001 Midgard ex vocalist of the legendary OUIJA, joined the group; and so the band evolved in a remarkable way.
In 2002 a promo was recorded, with which SPELLCRAFT takes their first steps in underground at state level.
After years in the shade, in 2005 they turned something upside down obtaining colder and more aggressive subjects for their new album.
In 2007 recorded and mixed the promo “The Souldevourer”  The Room BCN Studio and also in Sweden by the recognized Taylor Maid is mastered (Marduk, Dark Funeral, Dimmu Borgir,…). The target was achieved, the recording was powerful and of high quality, being the band very satisfied with the result.
In 2008 “Stirpe Obscura” was released under Grosteque Music, old school Black metal raw, blasphemous and full of a truly dark atmosphere.
Currently the band is recording their new album ' Yersinia Pestis', this work will be released at the end of year 2012 under the record label Xtreem music.

02: WHAT´S YOUR INFLUENCES?

I only listen to metal music; from old heavy, thrash, death to current black metal…I like the old school very much, we were influenced by bands such as Slayer, Kreator, Sepultura (old), Morbid Angel, Sabbat (English band), Mayhem, Bathory, Rotting Christ (old),Entombed (old) and so on...their sound and attitude will always be in my heart, but nowadays there are also great bands...generally speaking, Metal music is still in a continuous evolution that makes this style great and different from all the rest.

This the current line up; Fulgur (drums), Aldromk (guitar), Murcilag (guitar), Scythe (bass) and me Midgard (vocal).

  

04: TELL US MORE ABOUT DEMO TAPE: ¨FUNERAL IN THE NIGHT¨.

This is our older stuff, it was a demo recorded with a low budget in a clandestine studio of a friend of us, in this stage of the band I wasn't singing with them, but I know that with this material. The band attracted the attention of a great legion of fans.... it's a primitive stuff but really effective; only Black Metal.

05: COMMENT ABOUT PROMO TAPE: ¨SOULDEVOURER A¨.

Souldevourer is a preamble of our album Stirpe Obscura, firstly we recorded four tracks just for using this as promotional material, looking for a good record label for us, once we signed with Grotesque Productions for the releasing of Stirpe Obscura, we decided to include these songs in this album.

06: AND ABOUT ALBUM 2012 ¨YERSINIA PESTIS¨?

Yersinia Pestis is our new album. It will be released in May of this year under the Spanish record label Xtreem Music, in my opinion is the best record label in Spain in reference to extreme Metal in general. This album was recorded in in the Room Bcn in Barcelona with a good budget, we've wanted to get an excellent sound, totally professional and it entails to make a great recording and an exhaustive production.

I think that is the better work of SPELLCRAFT up to now and speaking about this I have to say; that you'll find in it a more elaborated album and with a better production than 'Stirpe Obscura', that's a new stage for us. It's a natural progression in our sound but without lose your roots; I think, it is possibly more bestial and compact.

07: WHAT MERCHANDISE DO YOU STILL HAVE AVAILABLE?

Nowadays all the old merchandising is sold out, we only have some t-shirts with the cover of Stirpe Obscura, but when the new album is out, we'll make new t-shirts with the new cover of Yersinia Pestis...hahaha it is a really blasphemous and bestial picture, perfect for a metal t-shirt.

08: DID YOU HAVE PLAYED MANY GIGS?

SPELLCRAFT is going to play a few times just in carefully chosen festivals. We will fuse our old songs with new stuff so that our fans also enjoy our legendary anthems. In our gigs you’ll find only true Metal Negro, we enjoy our new material and we also want people to join us in our live concerts to get together a totally dark atmosphere and aggressive at the same time; all of us, together, will open the gates of Hades…

09: HOW`S SPANISH BLACK METAL SCENE?

In our city there is one more band, they are Temple Abattoir; they play raw and excellent Black metal, they are good friends of us, as well …The Spanish  underground metal scene is totally alive currently, other Spanish bands that I would mention would be ERED, MARTHYRIUM ,LUX DIVINA, BALMOG, PROFUNDIS TENEBRARUM, etc…to mention just some of them..

10: COMMENT ABOUT THE  ÄDAEGIA¨ MUSIC.

This song is very special for us, because it speaks about Adaegia, the goddess of Iberian hell, in a way it's a homage to our pagan ancestors and culture, but always with our peculiar focus...it's a magic song but with lots of feeling and at the same time a blast of pure hate.

11: AND ABOUT THE ¨STIRPE OBSCURA¨?

This album has been a referent for us, because it was recorded in a totally professional way; investing a lot of time in all the details, it has also been the work with which we achieve to cross the frontiers of our country, getting great reviews world-wide and giving to know the name of SPELLCRAFT to many people.

It's an album that I will be always very proud of, because the album was recorded in a natural way without search complicated pretentions; we just wanted it to be primitive and raw but with our touch of distinction from other Black Metal bands, so you'll find in it clearly aggressive songs with others; more enveloping and magical as "Beyond the lost forest", for example.

12: WHAT`RE YOU FUTURE PLANS?

I don't like to do too many plans for the future, because generally they don’t come true. The most important is the present and this entails the release of our new album, promotion, live performances and so on... but the future is uncertain; only death is real...everything else is ephemeral, so the future will speak...

.OUIJA (Biography). In 1994 from the ashes of LEVIAL, OUIJA was born; with the next line-up Baret (bass),Dany (drums),Map (guitar),Ferriz (keyboards) and Midgard (vocal),the band needed another way to communicate their feelings and the different changes about the concept of their music in that moment. After two years of rehearsals, their first official demo, which was recorded in 1996,arrived at Repulse Records which decided to sign up the band immediately to release their work “Riding into the funeral paths” in 1997. With this work they got a status of underground cult band in Spain as well as abroad, being in their country a pioneering national band of Black metal with great quality and international projection. Thanks to it the band also performed in concerts across Spain, getting a neverending legion of fans. In the year 2000 OUIJA recorded their second album, with a lot of changes in the original line up...after having recorded this second album, the band was dissolved and this work wasn't released. After a decade of silence the Spanish Black Metal Band OUIJA returns to the fray with new material and stronger than ever, fusing their strengths once again Map the founder guitar and brain of the compositions of the band, with the vocalist of the original line-up Midgard. In this new stage, three members of Spellcraft ; Fulgur (drums), Aldromk (bass) and Murcilag (guitar) joined the band so the line-up is totally completed. In the following autumn the band will began to record a mini-CD which will be launched by Spanish Record Company XTREEM MUSIC at the beginning of next year that will be the preamble for their long play that will also be launched by the above mentioned label during 2011… Black Metal with old flavour but with OUIJA’s own sound and up-to-date at the same time; aged for many years in the depths of the hell... The eagerly-awaited return of Ouija will be in December of 2010 is now embodied in form of a 4-song mini CD entitled "Adversary" which was recorded at Moontower Studios by Javi Bastard and later on mastered at famous Swedish Unisound Studios by Dan Swanö, resulting on an astonishing recording which shows the most intense and darkest side of OUIJA as well as keeping these awesome melodies and great song structures which will for sure please not only every long time fan of the band, but every lover of great quality Black Metal!! TORQVEREM Como forma de manter a expressão individual viva e livre do corrosivo mundo externo-coletivo, somado com o ódio crescente pela limitação humana que chamo de “câncer religioso” (cristalizada nos primeiros anos ao moldarmos as concepções de “realidade”), dos meus obscuros labirintos criei uma forma de interpretação onde duramente luto por um modo paralelo em existir e Ser. E foi através deste ideal e filosofia que iniciei a Guerra para absorção e compreensão do universo em sua forma natural “animalesca” para auto evolução (visão amplamente condenada pelos movimentos de rebanho, e seguidores viciados em limitações que acabam por cegarem a verdadeira natureza existente em uma simples manifestação da vida). Utilizando o empirismo que aplicava no campo das Artes Ocultas, em 1998 e.v. registrei as primeiras expressões em áudio e texto (na cidade de Araraquara-SP) do projeto que ainda não possuía nome... E em 2002 e.v. tudo passou a chamar-se “Torqverem” – representando mais que um ideal ou arte, e sim uma filosofia de vida espelhada na interpretação que tenho do universo. Em Porto Alegre-RS no ano de 2002 e.v. encontrei os meios para o caminho do que hoje é a horda, banhada em sangue e usando como catalisadores o desespero e a própria vivência que adquiri durante experiências únicas, e assim possibilitaram que eu conhecesse campos e áreas até então estéreis em minha compreensão.
                                                              

O latim desde o início foi predominante, e esta língua específica acabou por facilitar algumas “expressões-chave” e a escolher o nome “Torqverem”. Utilizo outras línguas e evocações dependendo do foco a ser atingido, e o logotipo antigo foi criado e executado por mim no ano de 2003 e.v. juntamente com as primeiras gravações como “horda”. Com a antiga formação tocamos uma única vez em Santa Cruz do Sul\RS, contando com Profaner (Morterix) e o uruguaio Sebastian (Karkadam e Luctiferu), tocamos cinco hinos que hoje depois de lapidados fazem parte do repertório atual e também registrados nas demos “Funeral da Alma Cristã” (2007e.v.) e “Opvs Infernii” (2010 e.v.). Retornando ao interior de SP em 2006 e.v., optei por reformular o foco e expressão da Torqverem, produzindo a arte de forma mais obscura e possibilitando explorar a vastidão dos abismos humanos em suas perfurantes limitações... Em seguida Janvs Necrokramer entrou como percussionista, seguido pela violinista Mistika Necrolunna para gravarmos a demo experimental “Funeral da Alma Cristã” (2007 e.v.), limitada em 40 cópias e numeradas em sangue, e em 2007 e.v. criei o novo logotipo condizente à atual realidade que usamos até hoje. Após a gravação da primeira “demo”, Count Noctulius (ex Corpse of Christ, Fortian Greymorning e atual Agouro) assumiu o contrabaixo com a saída do violino, participando de apresentações ao vivo durante o ano de 2009 e.v. e também no álbum “Vber Crvciatvs” (lançado apenas em 2011 e.v.). A partir de 2010 e.v. a Torqverem tomou uma postura mais forte e direcionada aos ideais da Guerra Oculta para evidenciar sua proposta no Metal Negro retornando em sua estrutura. Até que oficializamos um “material demo” limitado em 250 cópias intitulado “Opvs Infernii” (2010 e.v.) também em sangue para finalmente os guerreiros mais próximos conhecerem a filosofia e arte da horda (pois até então tudo era fechado e sem distribuição dos materiais).

Não possuíamos mais apresentações com a ausência do contrabaixo, até que Fernando Iser entrou para tocar ao vivo e posteriormente de forma honrada oficialmente iniciou sua jornada com a Torqverem. Até então tudo foi um preparativo para em seguida oficializarmos a guerra de praticamente dez anos com o artefato “Vber Crvciatvs” no ano de 2011 e.v., onde iniciamos a divulgação com celebrações e tocando por todo país. E assim expressamos o verdadeiro metal negro, que é criado com liberdade, força e evolução. A Torqverem cultua o caminho da Guerra Oculta. Liberdade e evolução ao espírito...
